About Organisation:

Habitat for Humanity Uganda (HFHU) is affiliated to Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) headquartered in Atlanta – Georgia (U.S.A); and is an ecumenical Christian ministry that is dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. HFHU functionally reports to HFHI’s Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Area Office in Pretoria – South Africa. Over the last 10 years, Habitat for Humanity Uganda has rehabilitated and constructed over 24,000 houses, transforming over 144,000 lives across the country. Our country program has 5 field offices located in Kumi, Mayuge, Lugazi, Luweero, and Fort portal.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full production lifecycle of quality Twist Blocks—including batching, mixing, moulding, curing, handling, stacking, and storage—while ensuring production targets are met with minimal wastage.
  • Supervise the production foreman, factory producers, marketers, trainees, cleaners, and security guards, providing technical guidance and ensuring defects are identified before blocks are sold or used in projects.
  • Maintain daily, accurate records for all materials received, issued, and used; conduct regular physical stock checks to reconcile with records and minimise theft, damage, and losses.
  • Initiate purchase requests for raw materials, tools, equipment, and safety gear in line with procurement procedures, verifying deliveries and monitoring cost control.
  • Provide timely technical support and guidance to artisans, contractors, and community builders on the correct handling, alignment, and installation of Twist Blocks during construction projects.
  • Promote Twist Block technology via radio, trade shows, exhibitions, community meetings, and social media; coordinate with marketers to implement and document promotional activities.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, manage sales orders, coordinate deliveries, and maintain a log of customer feedback and market opportunities.
  • Support demonstration works, site visits, and practical training sessions for youth, artisans, and community members to adopt the technology.
  • Enforce strict quality control, safe working practices, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) on the factory floor.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production, material usage, stock levels, sales, marketing, training activities, and key challenges.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned to ensure the sustainability of the Hub, including supporting grant compliance and long-term financial viability.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum Qualifications:  Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or any other related course.
  • Experience:  Proven experience in construction, block production, site supervision, workshop/factory operations, or vocational training; demonstrated experience in supervising artisans, production teams, youth trainees, or casual workers.
  • Experience in procurement support, stock management, customer relations, or marketing construction products is an added advantage.
  • Preferred:  Additional certifications/training in Construction Technology, Production Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or Health & Safety.
  • Key Competencies:  Strong knowledge of construction materials, concrete mixing, block production, curing, quality control, and basic site construction practices; ability to read basic drawings, measurements, and calculate quantities; strong supervision, coaching, and people-management skills; excellent record‑keeping, reporting, and computer skills (especially MS Word and Excel); good marketing, presentation, and customer care skills; ability to enforce safety requirements; self‑driven, reliable, organised, practical, results‑oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
